The Veteran Healthcare Trap.

Understanding the federal Medicare mandate for military retirees, addressing VA healthcare limitations, and the strategy we use to help offset your Part B premium.

1. The Hostage Situation

You earned your military healthcare benefits through years of service. Then you turn 65.

Federal law establishes strict eligibility requirements. If you rely on TRICARE for Life, the Department of Defense mandates that you maintain active enrollment in Medicare Part B. Refusing Part B means forfeiting your TRICARE coverage. For most retirees, this requires paying the standard monthly Part B premium ($174.70+ deducted from Social Security) just to keep the coverage you were promised.

2. The VA Delusion

"I don't need anything else. The VA takes care of me perfectly."

If you believe this, you haven't needed an emergency root canal lately. The VA is a massive bureaucracy subject to federal funding fluctuations. While their prescription drug coverage is excellent, getting an appointment for major dental work, specialized vision care, or immediate hearing aid replacement requires navigating months of red tape. You are relying entirely on a system that routinely leaves veterans waiting.

The "Honor Plan" Exploit

While federal law requires Part B enrollment to maintain TRICARE, you can strategically utilize private Medicare Advantage plan designs to help reduce that monthly burden:

01

Strip the Redundancy

Because you already get your prescriptions dirt-cheap through the VA or TRICARE, you do not need standard Medicare Part D. We deploy specialized "MA-Only" (Medicare Advantage without drug coverage) Patriot/Honor plans.

02

The Part B Giveback

Because the private carrier does not cover retail prescription drugs for MA-Only enrollees, plan savings are generated. On select plans in designated service areas, carriers apply a Part B premium reduction (Giveback) credited directly back to your Social Security check each month.*

03

Private Sector Access

These plans grant you access to robust, private-sector Dental, Vision, and Hearing networks. You no longer have to wait 6 months for a VA dentist; you use your private card to get it done locally, immediately.

Stop Leaving Your Money on the Table.

If you maintain Medicare Parts A & B alongside VA or military coverage, you may be eligible for an MA-Only plan with a Part B Giveback. Let our brokers audit plan availability in your ZIP code.
*Part B Giveback amounts vary by plan, county, and service area and are not available in all regions.
